I'm afraid too many people come to the Christian faith and then revert back to their old ways at some point. I'm not talking about an occasional back-sliding but a constant lifestyle. To live the Christian life we must want to change and be obedient to God. It's a matter of where our heart is or what kind of attitude we have. Will there be times when we fail? Yes, but there's repentance and forgiveness for those times.
When we ask Christ into our lives as our Savior, there is an immediate change, and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us and be our helper. But, there are also gradual changes that will continue throughout our lives. We should grow in our faith, our capacity to love, and our willingness to serve. Our focus turns more and more to God all the time, and He becomes more important than anything else. We look forward to hearing from Him and learning more about Him through His Word. We anticipate our daily prayer time when we can have a focused conversation with Him. We turn to Him all during our waking minutes and feel his presence.
If you don't feel that you are somewhere on this path, then you aren't living the kind of life God wants and expects. Don't let worldly values corrupt you, turn your faith lukewarm, or take your focus off what this life is all about and what's really important. At the end of your life, the only thing that really matters is what you've done with Christ and how much you've allowed Him to change you into His image.
The great news is that no matter how many times we fail Him, He's always willing to forgive, help us pick up the pieces of our brokenness, and lead us to a glorious life in Him. He has His arms stretched wide hoping you'll run to them and recommit to living an authentic Christian life. Please come home.
