Finally, I have a copy of the cover for Cleared for Planting that I can share. At first I didn't much like it, because it wasn't what I'd expected. I liked the mountains above the title. I had envisioned that. However, I had imagined Emma on the front cover wearing a homespun dress, and maybe Edgar behind her. This cover was a surprise.
Emma does end up with the Cherokee for almost five months, and she ends up wearing Indian dress when hers is so threadbare it splits, so the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. If you look, the woman on the cover has lighter hair and lighter skin than an Indian would, and she has blue eyes. It definitely grew on me, and I hope, because it is different, it might draw more interest. We'll see.
The font for the lettering wasn't one that I would have chosen either. But I recognized it went with the picture, and it grew on me, too. In the end, I'm happy with the book cover. I tried to enlarge it for you, but I haven't been able to. Please let me know what you think - either in a comment here or on facebook. I'll be sharing it there soon, but I wanted to do the debut reveal here. The book is supposed to be released within a month.
