A Great Awakening
Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of host, and I will turn unto you (Zechariah 1:3a).
I know many Christians today are praying for another Great Awakening to turn people back to God. Historians and theologians identify three or four Great Awakenings in our past where large numbers surrendered to Christ for the first time or renewed their faith and rededicated their lives.
Ye shall know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:16a).
This kind of revival doesn't take place without Christians getting up from the church pews and moving outside the buildings to give their testimonies, share the gospel message, and demonstrate the love of Christ to others. We must care enough to sacrificially give of our time as well as our other resources.
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal (Matthew 6:20).
Although this type of lifestyle looks different from what the world defines as success, it is gratifying, satisfying, and has intrinsic rewards. It stores up treasures in heavenly places where values don't fluctuate, thieves cannot steal, and nothing gets old or wears out. What are you seeking? Where are your treasures? Are you willing to be a part of a Great Awakening?_____________________________
