The Greater Plan

Christ didn't have to be arrested, tried, and go to the cross, but He willingly did so. He could have just spoken, and people would have been forced to accept Him as their Savior, but that wasn't the Father's will. God has always wanted people to choose Him of their own free will. He didn't create us to be His puppets.

Then Christ could have orchestrated it so that He would be found innocent at all His trials. Instead, He didn't even try to come to His own defense and said very little to refute the accusations. He was determined to follow His Father's will and knew what was at stake here -- the souls of all mankind.

He could have summoned legions of warrior angels to come to His rescue and annihilated the Jewish leaders who plotted against Him and the Roman army, but His love for us was too great to do that and leave us without a way to be with Him in eternity. So, He went to the cross and died an agonizing death for us. However, that didn't end the story for he arose. He defeated death and made a way for us. Hallelujah!
